Adults with Developmental Disabilities - A likely viable workforce for the food & beverage industry

Writer: TRAG teamTRAG team

People with Developmental Disabilities have been perceived incorrectly as being unable to survive childhood and or grow into adulthood, unable to benefit from education, unable

to live in the community as an adult, unable to seek employment nor be employed.

Over the years, a number of organizations have supported these individuals and continue to do so to enable them to grow and live as independently as possible.

Harbor Regional Center is a private, non-profit, government funded agency -one of twenty one such agencies in California- providing assistance to children and adult with Developmental Disabilities access community resources to become as independent as possible.

In the area of employment for adults with Developmental Disabilities, the Regional Centers collaborate with vendors to assist and support them to succeed in the workplace including in the food and beverage industry.

Data available show that with support, many adults with Developmental Disabilities become a stable, hardworking, successful, and loyal workforce.
